We plan to offer special arrangements for about 50 - 60 young scientists from former socialist countries in Europe and from developing countries worldwide.
Pending funding by a foundation, this will include stipends for travel and accommodation, a fee waiver and a reduced fee offer for participation in a pre-conference workshop. Young scientists from the countries eligible for reduced registration (see list below) can, in principle, apply for support.
Furthermore, our Meet-the-Scientist Event will give young researchers the opportunity to present themselves to outstanding experts in their field and discuss their research as well as their professional plans. We will ask Keynote Speakers, Invited Speakers and Invited Symposium Chairs to be available for this event.

Given that meanwhile numerous young scientists from former socialist countries in Europe and from developing countries worldwide showed interest in participating in the ISSBD meeting and asked for funding, we decided to initiate a formal application process.
Applicants are supposed to submit an abstract for an individual poster via the abstract submission system on this homepage. In addition, they should send an application for financial support via regular mail to:
Prof. Wolfgang Schneider
Department of Psychology
University of Würzburg
Wittelsbacherplatz 1
D-97074 Würzburg
Germany
The application must include:
- an application letter
- the submitted poster abstract
- a short Curriculum Vitae
- a detailed estimate of the travelling costs from a travel agent
The deadline for applications is December 31, 2007.
We will give preference to young scientists who have already achieved a PhD and are in the early stages of their career (no more than 5-7 years post PhD). Depending on the country, however, advanced graduate students (PhD candidates) may also be eligible. Please note that we will not be able to cover travel costs entirely in most cases, but can offer partial support only.
